2009 ARC-CSI Crash Conference Presentation

A Common Sense Approach to Explaining Real World Acceleration Values
Tim ReustPresented By: Timothy J. Reust
Time: 20 Min

When testifying in court and discussing acceleration/deceleration and acceleration values it is critical to communicate with the jury in a manner that is understandable.  The best method to connect with the jury is by relating to their “real-life experiences”.

A series of instrumented tests were conducted to measure acceleration values which caused common items found within a vehicle to slide across the dash or along the carpet on the floor.

This presentation will discuss the test results and ideas to help when covering this topic in trial.
